Newsweek: le 150 donne che “agitano” il mondo

Donne.  Capo di Stato e capofamiglia.  Aggressive manifestanti nelle piazze della città ed  in villaggi remoti. Con una energia di fuoco nuovo, le donne sono:  la costruzione di scuole,  avvio di imprese,  lotta alla corruzione.  Sanno sfruttare le nuove tecnologie e di abbattere vecchi pregiudizi. Ogni volta che una donna o una ragazza ottiene il controllo del suo proprio destino, lo standard di vita di tutti si alza ed il valore di diritti umani si sviluppa. Così quest’anno, e ogni anno, Newsweek onorerà le eroine locali, e la  crescente rete di donne potenti che sostengono i loro sforzi.

Emma Bonino è l’unica italiana

”Sin dalla sua elezione alla Camera dei Deputati nel 1976 – si legge nel breve profilo che Newsweek ha dedicato alla vice presidente del Senato – Emma Bonino ha lavorato a lungo e in modo produttivo al tema della tutela dei diritti umani. Tra il 2001 e il 2004 è stata ‘visiting professor’ Al Cairo, lavorando a sostegno delle cause umanitarie nel Medio Oriente e in Nord Africa. Si è quindi impegnata con grande tenacia a favore della ratifica del protocollo ‘Africa’s Maputo’, che garantisce alle donne pari diritti sul piano sociale e politico e punta a combattere le mutilazioni genitali”.
